We are a string quartet, composing and interpreting modern music while giving pride of place to improvisation in our pieces. With our different origins, cultures and musical tastes, we have been inspired by Jazz, Funk, Cuban Son and Flamenco, to develop our own, increasingly recognisable, style.
"AUPA: an expression used to encourage someone to rise up or lift something up".
Our music aims to be this interjection, raising the audience's energy levels and encouraging them to join us in having fun.
From our very first gigs to the present day, we have played at the most important venues in Barcelona, the city we live in: Jamboree, Apolo, Luz de Gas and the Palau de la Música.
In 2012 we played at the Jazzaldia
In January 2014 we won the first Made in Shasta competition
We have played live with artists including Gregory Porter, Antony and the Johnsons (now Anohni), Antonio Rey, India Martínez, Rafa Pons, Marco Mezquida, Gerard Nieto, Celeste Alías, Cece Giannotti, Javier Galiana, Julian Sánchez and Raynald Colom.
We have also collaborated in the studio with Sara Baras, Guillem Roma, Sandra Carrasco, Chuchito Valdés, Jerry González and Javier Colina, recording for EMI Music.
